Chozoviotissa Monastery is a 20-minute hike over rocky terrain from Chora, the island's main town. Hiking to the entrance will leave you breathless -- from the climb and from the view.
The monastery's dress code requires long pants for men, dresses or skirts for women and no bare shoulders. Monks will greet you with water, Naxion liqueur and sweets if you arrive between sunrise and 2 p.m. |
